Dandelions

I've been having another play with the Pan Pastels, and I think they're growing on me. I still think they're messy (I seem always to end up with chalky dust over everywhere, but maybe that's just me!) but the end result probably justifies the means.

I made two cards to compare. I did one background with the new Spring Distress Inks applied with ink dusters, and the other with the Pan Pastels. The pastels do give a lovely soft effect, while the DIs are more vibrant, but I like them both! The PPs I bought at the show are mostly pale shades. I think I might have to get some more intense ones....

Anyway, here are the cards (DI background first, all stamps by Inkylicious). See what you think.

  1. Hi Lynne. I think in this case I prefer the pastels, though I do love my DIs and wouldn't be without them. My PPs arrived yesterday, but I haven't had time to play yet. I wanted to finish off some ATCs first.I think I will have to be in the mood for a pastel session and do several backgrounds in one run, whereas it is easy to grab an ink pad when I want some colour. I have a mixture of tints, shades and darks in the pastels, so I will see how I get on with them and let you know. Kate x

  3. Well, I love them both Lynne. I agree, there is a bit of dust residue from the PPs but nothing like ordinary pastels and they are so quick to use. For me it boils down to whether I want a really soft effect or not because I still love working with my DIs so much. As for your cards, I couldn't possibly choose between them because they are both gorgeous.

  7. They are both beautiful cards, Lynne.
I haven't tried pastels myself, a bit out of my price range at present, but I think I would be hard pressed to find anything I like more than my DI's.

  8. Two beautiful cards, Lynne, but I think I like the ink one best - being one for stronger colours.....

  9. Both of these are beautiful but my eyes are drawn to the lilac shades.

  10. Both lovely cards Lynne. I love Pan Pastels for their ease of application especially since I've had a frozen shoulder. I love what you can do with them with regards to blending and layering. However I love Distress Inks as well, so there's room for both in my craft room. It's down to personal preference I guess, Judith xx
