My daughter lives close to the River Annan, and I love to go for a walk alongside it and watch the wildlife, especially on a beautiful spring evening such as yesterday's was.
On my walk I met a local man out with his dogs, and he told me that there are otters in the river and that last week he saw three there early in the morning. I'm not very good at early rising, but since I was awake at 6.15 this morning, I thought I'd get up and go and see if I could spot them. Needless to say, I didn't, but I did enjoy being up at that time in the morning, with no-one else around except the birds and a few cows and sheep. The sun was up when I left the house, but there was low mist lying in some of the fields and over the river, eerily beautiful.
It was also very cold at that time in the morning! I think I'd have to be up even earlier to see the otters, so I don't think a repeat performance tomorrow morning will be on the cards!
What beautiful photos. My first thought 'Tranquility'. It almost made me nostalgic for England! (I did say almost!) Here in Spain we had rain all day yesterday, and clouds for most of Easter. That's almost unheard of. Most of the special street processions were cancelled for safety reasons, the first time it's happened in many people's memories. It's still grey today but the forecast says we are back on track with full sunshine by Wednesday.

Stunning photos, Lynne! good for you acting on impulse and getting up and going out. I've spent too many mornings this holiday not doing that! We had a wander in some of the quieter parts of Clumber today, but over the other side of the lake looked very busy. Enjoy yourself x
ReplyDeleteYour photos are amazing; I can see why you love this area so much.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! Till soon!

What gorgeous photos, Lynne. Early morning is just the perfect time for taking pictures isn't it. I, like you, am not good at getting up early though, but it's definitely worthwhile to do it every now and then. The mistyness on that river is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a great time with your family. The weather has been amazing hasn't it.
