New stamps from Crafty Individuals are always exciting, but the latest ones are extra special, as they have been designed by one of my fellow Crafty Individuals Design Team members, the very talented Dena Rangeley.</p><p>Dena has produced some stunning fantasy images which are absolutely gorgeous, and I'm sure they will be extremely popular. I can't show them yet in their full glory, but here are a few sneak peeks!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgplLu-6YePsd81nQy5ntMp5A_J6OgXz0bZcTEfTLooTyzRGeL7x9wzIJdpfSW5q3JyzNoyfliFAoAuVu1uBf8Cka5hDFlkoT-O7G0dvwKBOfxWzAAZkijUzWr59G6wiVGNskBedVfK184/s1000/Baby+dragon+detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="750" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgplLu-6YePsd81nQy5ntMp5A_J6OgXz0bZcTEfTLooTyzRGeL7x9wzIJdpfSW5q3JyzNoyfliFAoAuVu1uBf8Cka5hDFlkoT-O7G0dvwKBOfxWzAAZkijUzWr59G6wiVGNskBedVfK184/w300-h400/Baby+dragon+detail.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBDSvwfM2-Ts0eP0omL-J4TRdz9VYZlJfBJ8qzB1q6qCfI4MW4HOeWLvbguFEOqHbVQBN8AjJ85rAqNTpyQbj_saRXAD7rds5EwRppAP2I9Vn9UiyYf8isgRRDASNeg3wF-YjKPXqlFDE/s1000/Encaustic+phoenix+detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="750" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBDSvwfM2-Ts0eP0omL-J4TRdz9VYZlJfBJ8qzB1q6qCfI4MW4HOeWLvbguFEOqHbVQBN8AjJ85rAqNTpyQbj_saRXAD7rds5EwRppAP2I9Vn9UiyYf8isgRRDASNeg3wF-YjKPXqlFDE/w300-h400/Encaustic+phoenix+detail.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjymagu3IYDjsocvmmHkJNZmZ4DBN1r8r20tvguv9t4H4X_9gSROK1z5k4OlqhcJpj5Xa331JMHYVzpXP0qNF5Z7xMbKYG0WDfnEMiRqmxwKLWxHaDVcLWGQszAYdK-g0ngFSsnuV7XoJg/s1000/Fairy+moments+detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="750" data-original-width="1000" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjymagu3IYDjsocvmmHkJNZmZ4DBN1r8r20tvguv9t4H4X_9gSROK1z5k4OlqhcJpj5Xa331JMHYVzpXP0qNF5Z7xMbKYG0WDfnEMiRqmxwKLWxHaDVcLWGQszAYdK-g0ngFSsnuV7XoJg/w400-h300/Fairy+moments+detail.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW0Pv1s9v_waia9I3d80uxY1U0DX-SESYGp55lB7sVvFVbfvOA1kBsuuzJLdxp-e49pqQRRdzh_ZWbNTGQMegDijbpyxscflex7p0JDaR0ZyCso2ADUC2oCIs6nTifZyzGgqd31j65ums/s1000/Big+dragon+detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="750" data-original-width="1000" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW0Pv1s9v_waia9I3d80uxY1U0DX-SESYGp55lB7sVvFVbfvOA1kBsuuzJLdxp-e49pqQRRdzh_ZWbNTGQMegDijbpyxscflex7p0JDaR0ZyCso2ADUC2oCIs6nTifZyzGgqd31j65ums/w400-h300/Big+dragon+detail.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>The new stamps will be released on <a href="https://thecraftstore.com/">The Craft Store</a> (formerly Hochanda) on Friday 6th August at 10.00am and 2.00pm, when Jean from Crafty Individuals will be doing some fab demos with the new designs. There are four new stamps from drawings by Maria Kitano, plus a new background designed by Jean Hardy and they are all absolutely gorgeous! I've really enjoyed working with them. </p><p>And now I can show you some of my samples, with more to follow. I think this lovely toadstool is my favourite. I kept the design quite simple, with an ink-sprayed background and stencilled leaves, to let the toadstool take centre stage.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizq172r5go85chNDm2AgkqLNvhR-NKM_terzx-BFmeZY8uP4D3rUMt-z8XIsDW8ylYXqK07ixyt3zDIFF42xOr1FC8govmASv5bgjhBHK89-7-ag6cgY7y0LpKkl320wXMki3DtqkhmD4/s1058/Fly+Agaric.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1058" data-original-width="1051" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizq172r5go85chNDm2AgkqLNvhR-NKM_terzx-BFmeZY8uP4D3rUMt-z8XIsDW8ylYXqK07ixyt3zDIFF42xOr1FC8govmASv5bgjhBHK89-7-ag6cgY7y0LpKkl320wXMki3DtqkhmD4/w398-h400/Fly+Agaric.jpg" width="398" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here we have the cheerful robin - or it could be a bluetit, or a sparrow, or a chaffinch, or any number of other similar sized birds, depending on how you want to colour it. It would work as a Christmas card, or could be used any time of the year by simply cutting away the background and holly leaves and adding other flowers instead. So it's a really versatile stamp.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd4kaxs-XonpLQxcLPclVWOTr7PDCrAqqxJltSEb3h7nxGZm3qgsT97Vb8ZwPM0eFZqY530c2O1-wvmQ8iFGazImKemY7mdG7yReUJQBGVXPtZapap31Tovyy5mgY831yg0vq6LBllYIc/s1029/Robin+redbreast.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1016" data-original-width="1029" height="395" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd4kaxs-XonpLQxcLPclVWOTr7PDCrAqqxJltSEb3h7nxGZm3qgsT97Vb8ZwPM0eFZqY530c2O1-wvmQ8iFGazImKemY7mdG7yReUJQBGVXPtZapap31Tovyy5mgY831yg0vq6LBllYIc/w400-h395/Robin+redbreast.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Next is the pretty teacup, which I've coloured with pencils and adhered with foam pads over a Crafty Individuals background paper, with the addition of a few extra flowers, a paper doily and an image from one of the Crafty Individuals Miniature Image books which I thought went perfectly with the stamp.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQEpsgdfNhJCng5R2wqk9p21AAsxfKKf3pcLHJbPVDGQ9hTu6NtwzvBJEXztKa_qe8zZ4DCAJmdL-o7ugKLCKDajE1-eTka8bB-TiiLxiorYlt7pENwbgJ3MWPzTxGFvzAtzT6jYvijas/s1069/Teacup.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="790" data-original-width="1069" height="295" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQEpsgdfNhJCng5R2wqk9p21AAsxfKKf3pcLHJbPVDGQ9hTu6NtwzvBJEXztKa_qe8zZ4DCAJmdL-o7ugKLCKDajE1-eTka8bB-TiiLxiorYlt7pENwbgJ3MWPzTxGFvzAtzT6jYvijas/w400-h295/Teacup.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">My second favourite is the gull, perched on his post at the seaside. On this card I've also used the new background stamp, which I've embossed in white. Again, an ink-sprayed background and various other seaside elements, all Crafty Individuals stamps.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP5xNo4BtNtY8138IK3yyRtaZDGdfsI4IaIbchHclzYB_QFbT2dEN_aMu0Ug9Rx38yhQoS40U-Cqe4RwT7IF9U0yi0EBJEZOYS49ABYeMCsS536nJBTaNbNcrr8bBTv1A4ZJtbaLQ73Z0/s1041/Seagull.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1036" data-original-width="1041" height="398" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP5xNo4BtNtY8138IK3yyRtaZDGdfsI4IaIbchHclzYB_QFbT2dEN_aMu0Ug9Rx38yhQoS40U-Cqe4RwT7IF9U0yi0EBJEZOYS49ABYeMCsS536nJBTaNbNcrr8bBTv1A4ZJtbaLQ73Z0/w400-h398/Seagull.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The gull also appears on this 6" x 6" seaside canvas. Having stamped him on to Crafty Individuals white satin stamping card, I cut him out and coloured him with pencils, and then did the same with the lighthouse and small gull. I used blending brushes to make the background with Distress Oxide inks, then added some texture with grit paste, art stones and real shells. The alphabet beads spelling out "By The Sea" are threaded on to a wire hanger which was recycled from last year's calendar. A spot of glue kept the beads in place.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBPmb5Tym0Tj2c1yrFUqU_2UiKwDtgwxEheCJKKIopXZIkEz5Q3IU0uSly7WmDq7pAT-JT9BvOS2VsgRjEAbFnYRe9GLG217815drOIP33Pjgy6toGOs69hpCM8kXgolirT3KsVsLGemA/s1011/Seaside+canvas.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1011" data-original-width="711" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBPmb5Tym0Tj2c1yrFUqU_2UiKwDtgwxEheCJKKIopXZIkEz5Q3IU0uSly7WmDq7pAT-JT9BvOS2VsgRjEAbFnYRe9GLG217815drOIP33Pjgy6toGOs69hpCM8kXgolirT3KsVsLGemA/w450-h640/Seaside+canvas.jpg" width="450" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">All the stamps I've used on these projects are by Crafty Individuals. Along with the new stamps, a few older Maria Kitano designs will also be on today's shows. I will show you my samples for those in my next post, along with more of the new ones. As usual, Jean will be doing some of her brilliant demos, as well as showing lots of stunning samples made by my very talented design teamies. I'm just off to make a cuppa and get ready to watch. I hope you enjoy the shows. I know you will love the stamps!</div><p></p>Lynne Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13959635766548376107noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5785010012454161394.post-63074170686160447032021-04-08T12:48:00.006+01:002021-04-08T12:48:54.870+01:00A Tale Of Two Kitties!<span style="font-size: medium;">Here's my concertina book using stamps from <a href="https://www.craftyindividuals.co.uk/">Crafty Individuals'</a> latest new stamp release, which will be available on their website very soon. I have to say, I was a bit unsure about what I might be able to do with these stamps when I first saw them, because I thought they were not really my thing. However, I soon changed my mind when I started working with them, as they are so much fun! And as Jean from Crafty Individuals said on the show, a bit of fun is what everyone could do with just now!</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">There were sellouts on the two shows on Friday, so they are obviously going to be hugely popular. However, Malcolm will be working his socks off to make more stamps, and they should be available on Crafty Individuals' website very soon.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">Anyway, without further ado, here are my samples. I won't go into detail about them all here, but if anyone wants to know how I made any of them, just leave me a message in a comment.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;">First, meet Syd and Albert, aka the Burglar Cats! I think they are my favourites! They are such cheeky characters! However, I'm not sure how well they succeed in their nefarious activities. "Bungling" is the word that springs to mind when I look at them! (NB. The "penchant for pink" quote is not a stamp, it is my own, printed on the computer.)</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRJpNB_tPn916OxwlYaauoOf0pj5cO4odcj5L4TzYJGbjgHjdXExI0o-vI0hGksP4dymAvNo_p7szE6BZjYj_ix-WsGl7hxIIeYgeaqHYXduHoLy18rG0jKJaOpn4SPzFDBG4dCBlixsA/s1000/Burglar+Cats+pink.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="730" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRJpNB_tPn916OxwlYaauoOf0pj5cO4odcj5L4TzYJGbjgHjdXExI0o-vI0hGksP4dymAvNo_p7szE6BZjYj_ix-WsGl7hxIIeYgeaqHYXduHoLy18rG0jKJaOpn4SPzFDBG4dCBlixsA/w293-h400/Burglar+Cats+pink.jpg" width="293" /></span></a></div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br />Next, please say hello to Luigi the Llama, who, according to his bio, was born in Peru but now lives in Nidderdale (a valley in North Yorkshire, England, for those who don't know it!). I felt very virtuous about having used some old stash. Don't think I made much of a dent in my stock, though!</span></span></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;"><span data-offset-key="bev0u-4-0" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; white-space: pre-wrap;"></span></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_0xIRY0jS3HPwNBWEUMVl5AsDo-p1S3eKp4glkAlJH1T-_Z8NcpQUxmpCIwfHci3b6xStSjyw8dj1RLU3Tw1KlrKovgPhNaB09QEcdUlEWCQfTYvzFfdCe63is37OjlapO04hm2tejbg/s1000/Bluebells+1+detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1000" data-original-width="750" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_0xIRY0jS3HPwNBWEUMVl5AsDo-p1S3eKp4glkAlJH1T-_Z8NcpQUxmpCIwfHci3b6xStSjyw8dj1RLU3Tw1KlrKovgPhNaB09QEcdUlEWCQfTYvzFfdCe63is37OjlapO04hm2tejbg/w300-h400/Bluebells+1+detail.jpg" width="300" /></a></span></div><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;"><br /><span data-text="true"><br /></span></span><p></p>Lynne Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13959635766548376107noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5785010012454161394.post-51584121981384683642021-02-19T00:55:00.003+00:002021-02-19T00:55:52.813+00:00A Day At The Zoo!<p>Here are some more of my samples for <a href="https://www.craftyindividuals.co.uk/" target="_blank">Crafty Individuals</a>. I was playing with some spray inks (Dylusions shimmer sprays and Distress Oxide sprays) and a stencil by That's Crafty (available from Crafty Individuals), and the resulting papers reminded me of Indian fabrics. I thought they would be perfect as a background for the elephants. I stamped them with Versafine Clair ink on Crafty Individuals white satin stamping card and embossed them with clear powder. I carefully coloured them with Arteza Fineliners, and then managed to smudge ink on to the white areas surrounding the image, having forgotten that it wouldn't dry over the embossed parts! What to do? I didn't want to just throw it away as it had taken ages to colour! I suddenly realised that it would be the perfect opportunity to try out my new Posca brush pen with gold ink, which I used to colour over all the white areas. I think it actually enhanced the image. Happy accident! A sentiment from Crafty Individuals CI-464 stamp set, and a little bit of bling, finished off the card nicely.</div><div><br /></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZlsLFHZj92wxuGCtYkKyJX9WRTSKB3jMWG44C5r8ruMbatc0Qg72NwaQkhbsAPa6z4Z8WcHt9vh2fzdvvyjvQGtoL260785TwzVxhwE431i7FjI2u2DOjKxNgeL542U95NjQFUvA_aCo/s1479/Elephant+friends.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1479" data-original-width="1119" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZlsLFHZj92wxuGCtYkKyJX9WRTSKB3jMWG44C5r8ruMbatc0Qg72NwaQkhbsAPa6z4Z8WcHt9vh2fzdvvyjvQGtoL260785TwzVxhwE431i7FjI2u2DOjKxNgeL542U95NjQFUvA_aCo/w303-h400/Elephant+friends.jpg" width="303" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Hope you have enjoyed this little trip to the zoo! I simply stamped and coloured part of the zebra image and cut it to fit the mirror. Then I made it into a pouch for the mirror.A quick and fun little project.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisRN9V8u4FZXQilkf5gvf6oUAE_GLy9LrvMFBtLSycCBwKPqPtbVUMManxuxQcu3e7fEMCtoWDlpQ1_ZVFI1X6fxn37vm-4acZnCSOEmMYKATItWElXhjpNGzo74T8zA8ezUdx8wsYaZs/s910/Pouch+for+handbag+mirror.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="910" data-original-width="586" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisRN9V8u4FZXQilkf5gvf6oUAE_GLy9LrvMFBtLSycCBwKPqPtbVUMManxuxQcu3e7fEMCtoWDlpQ1_ZVFI1X6fxn37vm-4acZnCSOEmMYKATItWElXhjpNGzo74T8zA8ezUdx8wsYaZs/w258-h400/Pouch+for+handbag+mirror.JPG" width="258" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-m7H57R6GpBO5bG_0imG0Obphl-95nTsPUNVyk_E0xv533-TmD8ZFty3oukgVqOTOU03e0k5AknlD7VjOGIBZSsUih9-1z1uLoMphT2zu7cT2v0XWLmnZFP9uD5QRsIUtON1sq1tTJdc/s955/Handbag+mirror.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="846" data-original-width="955" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-m7H57R6GpBO5bG_0imG0Obphl-95nTsPUNVyk_E0xv533-TmD8ZFty3oukgVqOTOU03e0k5AknlD7VjOGIBZSsUih9-1z1uLoMphT2zu7cT2v0XWLmnZFP9uD5QRsIUtON1sq1tTJdc/s320/Handbag+mirror.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><p>A few more sneaky peeks to come before Friday, so watch this space!</p>Lynne Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13959635766548376107noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5785010012454161394.post-33513021294830038242021-02-06T12:20:00.000+00:002021-02-06T12:20:03.247+00:00The Big Day Approaches!<p>This Friday, 12th February, Crafty Individuals will be on Hochanda TV for their first shows since I became a Design Team member, and hopefully a few of my samples will be shown! Am excited! The new release features more amazing designs by the very talented Ellie Mulligan, and they are fabulous and a joy to colour.</p><p>Here'a sneak peek of one of my cards. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXEgX5wDWsSxdWd3-3KmhS20ff8WpLHXF2DubGNfNsMtlacWOm5cNmI_fFVrNGqAJ6AlTaOReLUtQ98FyXi4ZUZPWW1kEroS-dpfZ-GknTzXsmdA-JkqDm5q6FsBblkZre9PTagFYdhyo/s907/Toucan+card.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="655" data-original-width="907" height="289" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXEgX5wDWsSxdWd3-3KmhS20ff8WpLHXF2DubGNfNsMtlacWOm5cNmI_fFVrNGqAJ6AlTaOReLUtQ98FyXi4ZUZPWW1kEroS-dpfZ-GknTzXsmdA-JkqDm5q6FsBblkZre9PTagFYdhyo/w400-h289/Toucan+card.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>I made a background with Dylusions spray inks and hand cut leaf stencils. The toucan was stamped 3 times on heat resistant acetate, twice on one side and once on the reverse, so that I could have one toucan looking the opposite way to the others. All three were clear embossed and coloured with permanent markers. They were then mounted over a piece of white card to show up the colours. A few die cut leaves (magazine freebie) and a computer generated sentiment completed the design.<p></p><p>Between now and Friday my fellow DT members will be posting lots of their sneaky peeks on the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/craftyindividuals" target="_blank">Crafty Individuals Facebook Group page</a>, so do take a look. And don't miss the Hochanda shows, which will be at 10am and 2pm. You won't be disappointed!</p>Lynne Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13959635766548376107noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5785010012454161394.post-89617378241683014232020-12-16T02:08:00.002+00:002022-10-08T23:21:36.259+01:00An Announcement!<p> It was just an ordinary Wednesday afternoon. I'd been making a few Christmas cards, and watching Jean Hardy's Facebook Live on the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/craftyindividuals">Crafty Individuals Facebook Page</a>, when my phone pinged. It was a message from Jean, asking me if I would like to join the Crafty Individuals Design Team! It took a few seconds to sink in. What? Who, me?? Really?? Then the excitement set in! Wow! Crafty Individuals was one of the first British stamp companies I bought from, many years ago, and they have always been right up at the top of my list of favourites! To be on their DT would be a dream come true! I was so excited! I thought I'd better ask Jean for some time to think about it, because I didn't want to make a commitment unless I was sure I could fulfil it. Jean said that was fine, so I had a think, and about 5 seconds later messaged her back to say yes please! Did I say I was excited?!!</p><p>The next development was the arrival of a parcel of the newest stamps and papers! They are all fabulous (you can find them <a href="https://www.craftyindividuals.co.uk/art-rubber-stamps-unmounted-c1#sort7" target="_blank">here</a>) and I was so excited to get to play with them. Did I say I was excited?!!</p><div style="text-align: left;">Here are some of my first makes as a DT member! My favourite of the new stamps, which have all been designed by Sharron Bates, is the wonderful <a href="https://www.craftyindividuals.co.uk/art-rubber-stamps-unmounted-c1/sharron-bates-collage-design-unmounted-stamps-c51/crafty-individuals-ci-559-of-the-sea-art-rubber-stamp-103mm-x-136mm-p1306">"Of The Sea" (CI-559)</a>, which is an old boat with a lovely vintage feel. I thought it would make a suitable subject for pyrography.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl75CvHe91tTJOR0LfnkNXByntWNA0JNsJ1YGcuBHhEqB0ZypzlL_ZIO3N52EBTfGCJq3lPcXmeX8OBb_77Qye-izZMLtrC7RPRLEZw3aRa3wsO_XgeLCDYDAlz0e-N-5hmWeWQ3x_jvY/s1575/Card+-+Sharron%2527s+boat+1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1575" data-original-width="1145" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl75CvHe91tTJOR0LfnkNXByntWNA0JNsJ1YGcuBHhEqB0ZypzlL_ZIO3N52EBTfGCJq3lPcXmeX8OBb_77Qye-izZMLtrC7RPRLEZw3aRa3wsO_XgeLCDYDAlz0e-N-5hmWeWQ3x_jvY/w291-h400/Card+-+Sharron%2527s+boat+1.jpg" width="291" /></a> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I stamped the image with Memento Desert Sand ink on to Cass Art 300gsm hot press watercolour card, a good strong card with the ability to take the heat of the pyrography tool. I then used the tool to outline and shade the image. I overstamped one of the papers from the new <a href="https://www.craftyindividuals.co.uk/paper-products-and-stamp-cushioning-c2/background-paper-books-and-background-paper-sheets-c10/crafty-individuals-twenty-four-a5-background-paper-sheets-wonderfully-weathered-1-p1254">"Wonderfully Weathered" Set 1</a> with some text from CI-397 before mounting the image over the paper. I added a few elements from CI-397, CI-272 and CI-349 to complete the project, which is a free standing plaque. They were designed by <a href="https://sandmacards.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Sandma</a>, who combined various existing Crafty Individuals stamps to make these gorgeous scenes. They are all beautiful, but my favourite is the kingfisher, not only because they are amazing birds and I love their colours, but also because they were my late father's favourite birds too, and they remind me of him every time I see one.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7lgQVe9SUGuNRRbSjA6mEZFoSO7ZtW790qYh7xHdTzTw6pS5LC3s5Hr6dgdBjEESH3WwU63taY31C699zMToF1dPYA4uIKpJ2y2lnWzreOsApJyhKT8p7S0NeKioPdrEiDuzM7ERAnSs/s878/Kingfisher+easel+card+front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="878" data-original-width="757" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7lgQVe9SUGuNRRbSjA6mEZFoSO7ZtW790qYh7xHdTzTw6pS5LC3s5Hr6dgdBjEESH3WwU63taY31C699zMToF1dPYA4uIKpJ2y2lnWzreOsApJyhKT8p7S0NeKioPdrEiDuzM7ERAnSs/w345-h400/Kingfisher+easel+card+front.jpg" width="345" /></a> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I made an easel card for the kingfisher. The lake scene behind it was created with masks and Memento dye inks, the distant birds being hand drawn. The foreground grasses and the butterfly were stamped separately, cut out and adhered to the upper part of the card. The kingfisher was likewise stamped and cut out, then coloured with Arteza coloured pencils and fixed to the card with foam pads. A stamped sentiment provided the stopper for the card. All stamps used are by Crafty Individuals. The background papers are from my own photos of peeling paint on some old forestry machinery, which had the most wonderful colours and texture. </div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTTEDAnyOErQ8hZ_81Nuf9QK4eDDOjG9M65LS9xvsrCfDdH4qB4m5vW2p7t-5KTHq7qgYkUuUKbQT1WJbf1tX15OvIRPWP1S2fYWFv3bRXetdwAHV_ajjBbSKpQ_0xLt7n0B-OEck9_UY/s879/Kingfisher+easel+card+side.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="879" data-original-width="804" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTTEDAnyOErQ8hZ_81Nuf9QK4eDDOjG9M65LS9xvsrCfDdH4qB4m5vW2p7t-5KTHq7qgYkUuUKbQT1WJbf1tX15OvIRPWP1S2fYWFv3bRXetdwAHV_ajjBbSKpQ_0xLt7n0B-OEck9_UY/w366-h400/Kingfisher+easel+card+side.jpg" width="366" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5M4SdM_CxfqmIPdyf83cbttxfNxuZRnPlrBVcRvFfRBH0rP-aN9Lk1Tifz_puU0FW1ntgMny4gaDwleMKa-Qfm4Uivy_Jw_NmQ2gvuBj4tVS1a2UhFZ8-OOT2mi2XP0bf8iFGQM8-xII/s800/Kingfisher+easel+card+detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5M4SdM_CxfqmIPdyf83cbttxfNxuZRnPlrBVcRvFfRBH0rP-aN9Lk1Tifz_puU0FW1ntgMny4gaDwleMKa-Qfm4Uivy_Jw_NmQ2gvuBj4tVS1a2UhFZ8-OOT2mi2XP0bf8iFGQM8-xII/w300-h400/Kingfisher+easel+card+detail.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div><br /></div>My second card <span style="text-align: center;">shows the lovely robin.</span><div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcOLiMen0O2a8AHkamEk5hQtqdhhCzYyLKoevEpf6hAvUWvSbbruPHVCW-4cR5wCef0RWSW4_PeWNVeorYwH-rVONoOVTMaTI1dgJD9jLUHGmR0-iuR_TK-7eAkQ1Dpe4EPY45jm6dyNw/s879/Card+for+Audrey.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="870" data-original-width="879" height="396" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcOLiMen0O2a8AHkamEk5hQtqdhhCzYyLKoevEpf6hAvUWvSbbruPHVCW-4cR5wCef0RWSW4_PeWNVeorYwH-rVONoOVTMaTI1dgJD9jLUHGmR0-iuR_TK-7eAkQ1Dpe4EPY45jm6dyNw/w400-h396/Card+for+Audrey.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><span style="text-align: center;"><div><span style="text-align: center;"><br /></span></div>The background for the scene was created first, again with masks and dye inks, then the robin scene was stamped over it. There is a group of five of us who regularly chat online together. We have recently formed a chat group, where we natter about crafting, blogging, putting the world to rights and generally have a good laugh. It's very therapeutic! I had posted some photos I'd taken of some of the stunning sunsets we get where I live, and a discussion took place as to what might be the best ink colours etc. to recreate the scenes on a card. I challenged them each to create a card representing one of the photos, and they all accepted the mission!</p><div>These were the photos they had to choose from.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left;">The single tree in the second and fourth photos is a wonderful old beech tree which stands alone on top of the hill and is a local landmark. We can see it from our garden, and quite often get people stopping outside our house to photograph it! A few years ago I turned one of my photos of it into a digistamp, but being a stamper at heart I really wanted it in rubber. I sent the photo to Deby at Inkylicious, knowing that she is a kindred spirit when it comes to trees, and hoping to persuade her to turn it into a stamp, and she did! Not only that, she added a couple of buzzards and a sentiment to make a fabulous set, which you can find <a href="https://www.inkylicious.co.uk/old-beech-tree-stamp/prod_1041.html">here</a>.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Having set the challenge, I thought I should also try and make a card myself. I decided to use the photo with the three trees. As luck would have it, I have a Crafty Individuals stamp (sadly no longer on their website) with three trees on it not too dissimilar to the ones in the photo, so I went with that. The sentiment and leaf stamps are still available.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIEdyKqDtn7Shdtc3V-0zQS4roBABIZ0HW4nuPGxRuOnFD4gUehFQx6u3g64P3gbLdbhhORzBPs2NVAWem-tG0HPCTigWsARLJPKAESkZuXTcAlK4yJh6r3a0lZrtCNmi38kxOEf0MgRc/s671/Three+trees.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="659" data-original-width="671" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIEdyKqDtn7Shdtc3V-0zQS4roBABIZ0HW4nuPGxRuOnFD4gUehFQx6u3g64P3gbLdbhhORzBPs2NVAWem-tG0HPCTigWsARLJPKAESkZuXTcAlK4yJh6r3a0lZrtCNmi38kxOEf0MgRc/s320/Three+trees.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: left;">To see what my lovely friends came up with, please do go and have a look at their blogs. The silver lining in the lockdown cloud has been having more spare time to revisit some of my old favourites and also to try new ones. I've been needle felting for quite some time, but it was only recently that I attempted my very first wet felted picture. I used one of my photos for reference. The scene is Criffel (the hill) viewed from Newbie Barns, on the Solway Firth. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf_K4gPFFI3NI7LanaV4ZAyFXP1kN-yeCX9j7c5IAKLA1yW_kBCW84cLxcQaQV8J_iRv1c0vCiZzEczGMhRCeLzEMTq_ahRewqGAe624qkpZmICZzWmGLp4MBo5sPyiCM1ypfsimaHdcQ/s640/Criffel%252C+square+format+sm.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="640" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf_K4gPFFI3NI7LanaV4ZAyFXP1kN-yeCX9j7c5IAKLA1yW_kBCW84cLxcQaQV8J_iRv1c0vCiZzEczGMhRCeLzEMTq_ahRewqGAe624qkpZmICZzWmGLp4MBo5sPyiCM1ypfsimaHdcQ/s320/Criffel%252C+square+format+sm.JPG" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>And here is my felted interpretation of the photo. Had to use a bit of artistic licence for the oystercatchers - there are several in the photo, but you'd need a magnifying glass to see them!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN2eesq_jFR8D5kL37j6Bf2pZg2etYMKcUgGlDFTA00lzOWNIz5dsMPiWaK_6EPqP8Z5q5mxxp8WZLJhFaLMzVj5B6XVdApe5UwR9BuZSUp6XTOlm6AVl7Z4t2MysFSIAakgdtqQ6aoik/s1980/Criffel+with+oystercatchers.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1953" data-original-width="1980" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN2eesq_jFR8D5kL37j6Bf2pZg2etYMKcUgGlDFTA00lzOWNIz5dsMPiWaK_6EPqP8Z5q5mxxp8WZLJhFaLMzVj5B6XVdApe5UwR9BuZSUp6XTOlm6AVl7Z4t2MysFSIAakgdtqQ6aoik/s320/Criffel+with+oystercatchers.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>It was a steep learning curve, but I was quite pleased with my first effort. I've also become a big fan of <a href="https://www.mumsmakery.co.uk/" target="_blank">Mum's Makery</a> needle felting templates (designed and produced by the wonderfully talented Samantha Loughlin, owner of Mum's Makery), which make it so easy to produce beautiful felted flowers and other items which are 3D rather than flat pictures. The temperature has dropped, leaves are beginning to turn, blackberries are ripening, the barley field opposite our house has been harvested, ploughed and resown (the local gulls have been very interested!), and the new crop is already sprouting. Over the last couple of weeks we have had just about every type of weather except snow, and including much more rain and wind than is usual for this time of year. I am hoping, though, that there will still be a good few fine days for being outside in the fresh air, whether it be on a walk or just in the garden, before the winter starts to close in.</p><p>Which brings me nicely to our theme for this month's <a href="http://sirstampalotchallenge.blogspot.com/">Stamping Sensations Challenge</a>, which is </p><p>* * * * * THE GREAT OUTDOORS * * * * *</p><div style="text-align: left;">As the title suggests, we want to see outdoor scenes - countryside, mountains, hills, valleys, lakes, rivers etc. Our usual <a href="http://sirstampalotchallenge.blogspot.com/p/challenge-rules_1.html" target="_blank">challenge rules</a> apply, in particular the main element of your project must represent the theme, and must be hand stamped, or a hand coloured digital image. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Our September winner will receive two A4 stamp sheets from the Rare Earth Illuminated Florals Collection, a prize well worth entering for. If so, never fear, <a href="http://sirstampalotchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Stamping Sensations</a> is here! Our August challenge theme is <div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><font color="#3d85c6">* * * * *</font> <font color="#2b00fe">MAKE IT MASCULINE</font> <font color="#3d85c6">* * * * *</font></div><div><br /></div><div>and the Design Team have some fabulous samples for you to give you some inspiration. You can see them on the <a href="http://sirstampalotchallenge.blogspot.com/">Stamping Sensations Challenge Blog</a>. The background paper and the papers I used to paper piece the birds and butterflies are from various Crafty Individuals <a href="https://www.craftyindividuals.co.uk/paper-products-and-stamp-cushioning-c2/background-paper-books-and-background-paper-sheets-c10" target="_blank">Background Paper Books</a>.On the background sheet I toned down the area I wanted to stamp over with some diluted acrylic paint. I stamped the Three Birds ( <a href="https://www.craftyindividuals.co.uk/art-rubber-stamps-unmounted-c1/individual-unmounted-collage-stamps-c5/crafty-individuals-ci-544-three-birds-art-rubber-stamp-136mm-x-87mm-p1231" target="_blank">CI-544</a>) on the background and twice more on different sheets. I cut out their bodies and wings from the 2 extra sheets and and mixed and matched the different sheets when assembling the birds. The wings were popped up on foam pads.<br />
<br />
I decided to give the birds some fashion accessories! The right hand bird's hat and middle bird's bag are from elements plate <a href="https://www.craftyindividuals.co.uk/rubber-stamps-c1/elements-a6-plate-multi-stamps-c7/crafty-individuals-ci-335-a-ladys-boudoir-art-rubber-stamps-96mm-x-137mm-p212" target="_blank">CI-335</a>, The left hand bird's hat and the "Hats and Bonnets" sign were cut from the <a href="https://www.craftyindividuals.co.uk/rubber-stamps-c1/elements-a6-plate-multi-stamps-c7/crafty-individuals-ci-335-a-ladys-boudoir-art-rubber-stamps-96mm-x-137mm-p212" target="_blank">CI-285 "Hats and bonnets" stamp.</a> The butterflies (from <a href="https://www.craftyindividuals.co.uk/rubber-stamps-c1/elements-a6-plate-multi-stamps-c7/crafty-individuals-ci-231-beautiful-butterflies-art-rubber-stamps-96mm-x-137mm-p178" target="_blank">CI-231 elements plate</a>) were also stamped on the patterned papers and cut out. All of these were also attached with foam pads. I added some colour to the birds' beaks and legs with Arteza brush pens.<br />

It's one of my favourite themes too!<br />
<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><font color="#0b8043">* * * * *</font> <font color="#b51200">ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL</font> <font color="#0b8043">* * * * *</font></div>
<br />
We want to see any type of real creature on your projects - animals, wild or domestic, birds, bugs, butterflies - <b>but no teddy bears or fantasy creatures such as unicorns or dragons! </b>And please note our usual rules, that <b>they must be the focal point of your entry, and they must be stamped and fit the theme. A small stamped element added to a mainly stencilled or die cut project will not be eligible. We prefer conventional hand stamping, but do allow digital images as long as they are hand coloured.</b><br />
<br />
If you don't have any creature stamps, look no further than our wonderful July sponsor <a href="https://www.craftyindividuals.co.uk/" target="_blank">Crafty Individuals</a>, who have the most amazing designs of all types of animals, birds and butterflies, as well as all sorts of other stunning stamps, papers and accessories. The have donated a fab £25 voucher for the winning entry, to be spent in their online shop.<br />

Crafty Individuals have been one of my favourite companies ever since I first discovered them, many years ago now, not just for their fantastic products but also for their excellent customer service. All the stamps I have used on my card are by Crafty Individuals.<br />

During my most recent craft room tidy up I rediscovered some old ink sprays. Many of them were dried up and had to be disposed of, but a few were still ok, so I decided to use them to make a background. A couple that I had were shimmery, the others were plain. My background is a mixture of both.<br />
<br />
I stamped the Hare And Moon (CI-508) first on watercolour card, and masked it, before spraying the background. I did actually spray some of the shimmery ink through a stencil (by Bee Crafty) but it doesn't show up very well, though I rather like the effect. I grounded the hare by using another mask and sponging with pigment ink. I stamped the crow (from the Crow Plate CI-361), and the grasses from CI-495 Perching Pied Wagtail (masking off the bird before inking) and from CI-207 Ferns And Grasses set.<br />
<br />
It just so happened, (quite unintentionally!) that where I stamped the crow was over some of the shimmery spray, and the shimmer showed through the ink. It gave the crow a sort of ethereal, dream-like quality, which tied in rather nicely with the sentiment, which is also from the Crow Plate. Serendipity!<br />

Entries are coming in nicely for our "Make It Colourful" challenge and it's great to see such bright and cheerful designs.<br />
<br />
I made another card using stamps from our June sponsor, <a href="https://visibleimage.com/" target="_blank">Visible Image</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcnfj6P4TFhMvl5B2v0LclGI1nn2qQF_BpyW-ZpWUfSJhM7dVNNd2Z3AHWuFoi1yZIn7vLQx_hQRpzKrBddNp64g2-lwWdIDDQ4iTxEqp-xwQVGLXlLhqAZzlvtfc-hkFFNqFfrFHBmv0/s1600/DT+card+June+2020+midmonth.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="468" data-original-width="640" height="291" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcnfj6P4TFhMvl5B2v0LclGI1nn2qQF_BpyW-ZpWUfSJhM7dVNNd2Z3AHWuFoi1yZIn7vLQx_hQRpzKrBddNp64g2-lwWdIDDQ4iTxEqp-xwQVGLXlLhqAZzlvtfc-hkFFNqFfrFHBmv0/s400/DT+card+June+2020+midmonth.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I stamped the flowers and butterflies with Versafine Clair Ink on Cass Art hot press watercolour card and coloured them with diluted Distress Ink reinkers, using a waterbrush to blend the colours. I splattered drops of the inks over the design with a fan brush and added liquid pearls to the butterflies' bodies. I hand wrote the sentiment and stamped the colour splash (a magazine freebie designed by Visible Image) over the appropriate word.<br />
<br />
It was a very quick card to make, and I really enjoyed the process. Sometimes I prefer to work with more muted colours for a softer effect, depending on the subject, of course, but at the moment I'm definitely going through a bright and colourful phase!<br />

Our June challenge runs until the 1st of July, so there's still plenty of time to enter if you'd like to be in with a chance of winning a fab voucher to spend in Visible Image's online shop.Lynne Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13959635766548376107noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5785010012454161394.post-64561872309583677042020-06-07T08:30:00.000+01:002020-06-07T08:30:03.739+01:00Let's brighten things up!Wow, we had a bumper bunch of floral entries for last month's challenge at <a href="http://sirstampalotchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Stamping Sensations</a>! It was a real delight to view them all. Hopefully we will have a similarly copious crop for our June challenge, the theme for which is<br />

<br />
This should be a nice, easy challenge! We want to see lots of colour in your projects. However, please remember our challenge rules. We are a stamping challenge, so <b><span style="color: red;">the main element of your design must be stamped, and must reflect the theme.</span></b> (We prefer hand stamping, but hand coloured digital images are acceptable). Your entry should contain a link to <a href="http://sirstampalotchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Stamping Sensations Challenge</a>. The full list of rules can be found <a href="http://sirstampalotchallenge.blogspot.com/p/challenge-rules_1.html" target="_blank">here</a>. Sadly we had to discount several entries last month which did not adhere to our rules, such a shame as it meant they were not eligible for our prizes or top 3 spots.<br />
<br />
This month we have a return visit from our wonderful sponsors <a href="https://visibleimage.com/" target="_blank">Visible Image</a>, who have generously offered a fab voucher for our lucky winner to spend in their online shop. They have the most amazing stamps and stencils, so please do check that your entry qualifies to be in with a chance of winning.<br />
<br />
All stamps and stencils on my card are by Visible Image.<br />

I began the design with only the vaguest of ideas as to how it would proceed. First I stamped the flower, stem, butterflies and sentiments and embossed them with clear embossing powder. During my most recent craft room tidy up I rediscovered my Twinkling H2Os. Couldn't remember the last time I used them. I had forgotten how bright and pretty they are! I decided they would be perfect for colouring the elements of my design. Unfortunately their beautiful sheen doesn't really show up in the photo. <br />
<br />
It turned into a bit of a back to front card, as I did the background last! With the embossing protecting the main elements, I was able to paint the background with Brushos, which I then overstamped (the yellow dots) and stencilled (the purple blobs along the bottom, which are part of the Butterfly Ink stencil). Finally I sponged pigment ink around the edges to pull it all together. The finished card is nothing like I had originally envisaged, but I quite like it, and it is certainly colourful!<br />

Full details of the challenge, sponsors and prizes are on the challenge blog. The challenge is open until the 3rd of June, so there is still plenty of time to enter!<br />
<br />
My first sample for the challenge (see my previous post) used a beautiful digital image by our lovely DT member Dora, who is one of our sponsors, and for the one shown here I have gone for the lovely bluebells from the "Spring Foliage" set by Chocolate Baroque, our second sponsor for May.<br />

<br />
The background is watercoloured and stamped with another stamp from the Spring Foliage set. The butterfly, bee and sentiment are magazine freebies. I coloured the image with Zig Clean Colour pens and die cut it with a die from The Works..<br />

The bluebells around here have been glorious! Another good year for them, I think. We are lucky enough to have some in our garden.<br />

Today was the first really dull and damp day we have had in several weeks, but a gorgeous male yellowhammer dropped into the garden to brighten things up.<br />

We have several visiting regularly, and it is a joy to watch them, along with all the other beautiful birds, butterflies and bugs we get here. Even this monster beetle, which scuttled right by my foot in the bathroom yesterday!<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: lime;">* * * * *</span> <span style="color: purple;">SAY IT WITH FLOWERS</span> <span style="color: lime;">* * * * *</span></div>
<br />
We want you to show us your very best floral creations! Please remember that we are a stamping challenge, and the focal element of your project must reflect the theme. This means that <b>flowers must be the main subject of your design. A few added flowers as an embellishment will not fit the criteria, and will not be eligible for the prizes. </b>We prefer conventional hand stamping, but do allow digital images as long as they are hand coloured.<br />
<br />
We have not one but two fabulous prizes this month! Our sponsors are the wonderful <a href="https://www.chocolatebaroque.com/" target="_blank">Chocolate Baroque</a>, who have generously donated some of their fantastic new Blueprint stamps, and our very own <a href="http://dora-knutselhoekje.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Dora</a>, who as well as being a member of our DT, is also a designer of the most beautiful digi stamps. She is offering a choice of four of her lovely images for the lucky winner.<br />
<br />
As tulips are amongst my favourite flowers, I have used Dora's gorgeous tulip image for my card.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Having printed out the tulips onto watercolour paper (Cass Art Hot Press), I coloured them with Arteza watercolour pencils and diecut the image with a die from The Works. Before removing the panel from the die, I sponged around the edge with pigment ink.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMNhuD2PcPVN3dkRLlBHpiMPS08nkDr8SCGn3B1tDUDRbMdGA8nw_9MRP5oCgh9GJnTvfmHVMlQqFibu3X_voVObzh6xDwXFSExkgK9o2r-QcyBbL5MB2gidZuofSyzQbMh7ZTaEUhH7A/s1600/DT+card+May+%252720+detail+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMNhuD2PcPVN3dkRLlBHpiMPS08nkDr8SCGn3B1tDUDRbMdGA8nw_9MRP5oCgh9GJnTvfmHVMlQqFibu3X_voVObzh6xDwXFSExkgK9o2r-QcyBbL5MB2gidZuofSyzQbMh7ZTaEUhH7A/s400/DT+card+May+%252720+detail+1.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
The background paper has been in my stash for years! I bought it from Lakeland back in the days when they used to have a craft section in their shops. There were several different papers in the pack (I bought two packs!) and I have used up most of them, but the one I have used here has always been my favourite, as it is so pretty with the tulips and lovely spring colours. I did think twice about cutting it up for the card, but it fits so perfectly with the image, and since I had two sheets left, I decided to do it! I will be keeping the remaining sheet!<br />
<br />
Because the paper already has an appropriate printed sentiment within the pattern, I didn't think it needed anything adding to it, other than a little diecut butterfly (magazine freebie die).<br />

Full details over on the challenge blog.<br />
<br />
I've been taking advantage of the extra spare time, during this period of lockdown, to explore some different artforms, one of which is pyrography. I bought a kit a while ago but hadn't had much chance to try it out until now. I've been inspired by Richard Dickson who, as <a href="https://www.facebook.com/thepyronautist/" target="_blank">The Pyronautist</a>, does some fabulous work. Do go and have a look at his Facebook page. He mentioned on his page that he had been burning designs on watercolour paper, which made it possible to produce cards with pyrography designs, so I thought I would have a go at that. It works a treat!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCWzAJElhOojCbUINF4tjCmhyZwEyKffdMPsRGDxiCTiEmiXXg_Tf1OMMfUIpxh6_yJEkhzyJvg6Df4ANCzjTuQHkRfGJphKewqPm-51KfUxVxlUTnNv2pkv-oTkHYVEM_iiw0YqCn9s4/s1600/DT+card+April+%252720+midmonth.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="639" data-original-width="640" height="398" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCWzAJElhOojCbUINF4tjCmhyZwEyKffdMPsRGDxiCTiEmiXXg_Tf1OMMfUIpxh6_yJEkhzyJvg6Df4ANCzjTuQHkRfGJphKewqPm-51KfUxVxlUTnNv2pkv-oTkHYVEM_iiw0YqCn9s4/s400/DT+card+April+%252720+midmonth.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I stamped the flowers (Woodware) on to the watercolour card with Desert Sand Memento ink, and then outlined and shaded the design with my pyrography tool. I wanted to add the rainbow background but didn't want the flowers to be coloured, so I used a Versamark pen to cover them completely and clear embossed them to act as a resist.<br />
<br />
I sprayed the card with clean water and brushed various shades of Distress inks over in a rainbow shape, drying it with a heat gun so that the colours didn't continue to spread. I wiped away the excess colour from the flowers with a damp cloth.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMuy-sFg8MpndDythJ-vZ2u2t4_YqsbFj3jUHzRcYzqVworWDWMzHV8U_tQ9d_LMYkXsAgRb_T_1KQJkyBwOu8CJh1_auwyD1nGTdOIcXB210HUSAGXBZKE10RFX3NL_AWmS3fTYqaQLA/s1600/DT+card+April+%252720+midmonth+detail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMuy-sFg8MpndDythJ-vZ2u2t4_YqsbFj3jUHzRcYzqVworWDWMzHV8U_tQ9d_LMYkXsAgRb_T_1KQJkyBwOu8CJh1_auwyD1nGTdOIcXB210HUSAGXBZKE10RFX3NL_AWmS3fTYqaQLA/s400/DT+card+April+%252720+midmonth+detail.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
The watercolour card, which I thoroughly recommend, is Cass Art Hot Press 300gsm. It's called "paper" but 300gsm is actually quite thick, more like card. I don't think I would want to risk burning on to anything thinner! It also takes the water very well and is perfect for stamping on as it is smooth. I wanted to keep the design clean and simple, so I just added a die cut butterfly (Cheery Lynn) and a sentiment (magazine freebie). For a first try, I was quite pleased with how it turned out, and will definitely be doing more.<br />
<br />
We have had some absolutely gorgeous entries for our Rainbow challenge so far, but we would still like to see lots more. Let's fill blogland with this symbol of hope!Lynne Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13959635766548376107noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5785010012454161394.post-70943053964095213872020-04-05T09:00:00.000+01:002020-04-05T09:00:03.741+01:00Rainbows!I do hope you are all staying safe and well in these uncertain times. We crafters are very lucky to have our hobbies to keep us busy, and we hope you will be able to join in our April challenge at <a href="http://sirstampalotchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Stamping Sensations</a>, where our theme is<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="color: red;">*</span> <span style="color: orange;">*</span> <span style="color: lime;">*</span> <span style="color: blue;">*</span> <span style="color: purple;">*</span> <span style="color: red;">SOME</span><span style="color: orange;">WHERE</span><span style="color: lime;"> OVER</span><span style="color: blue;"> THE</span> <span style="color: purple;">RAIN</span></b><b><span style="color: purple;">BOW</span></b><b> <span style="color: purple;">*</span> <span style="color: blue;">*</span> <span style="color: lime;">*</span> <span style="color: orange;">*</span> <span style="color: red;">*</span></b></div>
<br />
Although the theme was chosen quite some time ago, it has proved to be very apt at present as rainbows are seen as symbols of hope, and many children recently across the UK have been drawing rainbows and putting them in their windows to cheer passers by.<br />
<br />
As the title suggests, you can take inspiration from the song or you can use the colours of the rainbow in your project (or both!) but the focal point of your entry must reflect the rainbow theme.<br />
<br />
We are sponsored once again this month by <a href="https://www.becreativecraft.com/" target="_blank">BeCreative</a>, who will be giving our lucky winner a fabulous £25 voucher to spend in their online shop.<br />

I've chosen to be inspired by the colours and by the song. Singing is a great thing to do, and it is proven to be beneficial for both physical and mental health. I think the Italians, in lockdown, singing from their windows and balconies recently, had the right idea!<br />
<br />
I began my project by using my ink dusters to brush various Memento inks through the music stencil to make the rainbow background. I stamped the singer on a separate piece of card, cut her out and adhered her to the rainbow panel with foam pads. The sentiment was stamped directly on to the panel, which was then matted first on to purple card and then on to a 6" x 6" base card. This was a very quick and easy card to make. The stamps are by Visible Image and the stencil is by Bee Crafty.<br />

I am extremely lucky to live in a beautiful rural area, and am able to take my daily walk along the banks of the river which runs by our house. It is so quiet and peaceful there, the only sounds being the rippling water, the birds singing, and the wind in the trees. Truly special! I thought you may like to see a few photos from one of my recent strolls.</div>

My teamies and I are so looking forward to seeing your rainbow-themed projects! I'm sure you will have no trouble at all in deciding what to make, but do go and have a look at the gorgeous examples which we have for you over on the <a href="http://sirstampalotchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Challenge Blog</a>, as one can never have too many rainbows in one's life, and we certainly are in need of something to cheer us all up just now. Stay safe everyone!</div>

What a dreary and dismal month it turned out to be. It is still very cold, very wet and very windy up here in the north, but there are signs of spring at last. The snowdrops are glorious, our daffodils are not far off flowering, we even have a few primroses out and the local birds have been seen gathering nesting materials. I just wish it would hurry up and get a bit warmer.<br />
<br />
Talking of spring flowers brings me to our new challenge at <a href="http://sirstampalotchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Stamping Sensations</a>, where our March theme is<br />

We want to see lots of lovely floral creations to brighten up these dull days! To comply with our challenge rules and be in with a chance of winning, please ensure that flowers are the main subject of your project (a few tiny ones in a corner won't be eligible, flowers must be the focal image), and that they are hand stamped (or hand coloured digis).</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We have a fab new sponsor this month - <a href="https://www.thirstybrush.co.uk/" target="_blank">Thirsty Brush</a>, who have a gorgeous range of hand drawn stamps, along with an extensive range of accessories to complete your designs. I have used a stamp from their "Modern Floral" stamp set for my card, along with the matching die.</div>

I coloured the image with Arteza coloured pencils, diecut it and adhered it with foam pads to a tag die from Stamps By Me. I matted the tag on to two layers of coloured card which I cut out by hand. The sentiment is also from Stamps By Me (diecut with a magazine freebie die), the butterfly die is by Cheery Lynn, and the background paper is from The Works.</div>
